Normally Divorce Settlements, Child Support and Alimony are not normally effected by bankruptcy however they have exceptions.

Covington Divorce Settlements:  What often happens with divorce settlements is that if one person files bankruptcy the other person is forced to also file bankruptcy and the divorce settlement is destroyed.  A spouse can attempt to haul another spouse back into divorce court to restructure a divorce settlement and to alter the divorce settlement that was modified by filing bankruptcy.

Covington Child Support: Bankruptcy does not normally alter child support.  However child support may be repaid in a Chapter 13 and child support paid to the state may be subordinated and partially repaid through Chapter 13.

Covington Alimony:  Alimony is normally not effected by either a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy but alimony may be paid through Chapter 13 and repaying divorce settlements, child support, or alimony through a Chapter 13 lowers the amounts paid to unsecured creditors.
